Who of the Where? (Guardians of the Galaxy review)

Hi there, friends! It's been a while since I've done any Marvel movies in summary and I figured I should get back on a more normal schedule. I won't be doing all of them anymore I don't think, just because there's a lot to write about in all of these movies, but I'll at least write about the ones that stand out to me, while maybe paraphrasing others that may be important for the future. The last post I wrote about Captain America: Winter Soldier , and today I'm going to write on the next movie in sequence, Guardians of the Galaxy . I think it's fair to say that not many people knew about this team before this movie came out, but thanks to the stellar cast and directorship of James Gunn, this made quite the splash when it came out, and today I'd like to dive into why I think that is. Strap on your jetpack and get your classic tunes ready to play because today, we're going to space! The Black Sheep of the MCU!     In most Marvel movies with ch...

Things are getting really exciting for Disney in October! (Disney world 50th anniversary overview)

It's amazing that Disney World has been around for 50 years, but as of October 1, 2021, the Magic Kingdom down in Orlando will be 50 years old. To celebrate this occasion, they're pulling out quite a few stops. A lot of the things that they had planned to do for this celebration they aren't really able to do yet since Covid-19 caused a lot of things to get pushed back, but we will hopefully get to see what they'll come up with before the end of this 18-month period. Today I'd like to provide a short overview of all the new stuff that's coming this year, specifically to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Walt Disney World, though don't think that is the only park to be receiving new additions. All in the Name of Magic!     Magic Kingdom is really the land that is being celebrated, as EPCOT, the second park to be built in Florida, wouldn't be opened for another 11 years following the grand opening of the area. As such, Magic Kingdom is getting a lot o...

PS5 gets a killer app from a classic franchise! (Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart review)

A few weeks ago, I talked about how excited I was for the release of the latest game in the Ratchet and Clank franchise, and I discussed the history of it as well. I'm happy to report that now that he game has been out for a few weeks, I've had the pleasure of playing and beating this game, and I'm well into my second playthrough now. This game is a lot of fun, and in addition to being one of the first exclusive games for the PS5, it's a really impressive display of the capabilities of the system and it's interesting new controller, the DualSense! It's time to fire up the Dimensionator as we travel into this new world and new generation of gameplay! A New Story for Some Old Heroes!     This game begins with a celebration of Ratchet and Clank and all of their achievements and heroics, even though the duo hasn't done anything in quite a while (a little meta-commentary never hurt anyone, did it?). This parade held in Metropolis (hosted by Captain Qwark, S...

J-Pop, Demons, and Fire Emblem? (Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE In Review)

Image
So a while ago, I wrote a little bit about Persona 5 Strikers , and in that post, I said that I wasn't much of an RPG fan, but it was my way into the genre, like a gateway game, if you will. Since then, I've beaten Persona 5 (the original game, not Royal , the "ultimate version," if you will), which took quite a while, and then after that, I rented maybe one of the weirdest games I've ever played, called Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE. This game is so bizarre that it's honestly hard to figure out the basic inspiration of the game. It is a crossover between Atlus's Shin Megami Tensei  (which I will be abbreviating as SMT from now on) series and Nintendo's Fire Emblem series, and though this seems like it wouldn't work at all, it really does! The influence of Persona games is evident, which is good, because I've not played any SMT games, but from what I understand, Persona is a spin off of SMT , so it makes sense. I feel like people slept o...

New Dog, Same Tricks! (New Pokemon Snap: In review)

As I wrote a few weeks ago, Pokemon Snap was a game for Nintendo 64 that came out in 1999 and quickly became a cult classic. People around the world fell in love with the simple, cute, but surprisingly fun concept of taking pictures of different Pokemon. While the concept was simple, it was full of little puzzles in order to get pictures of all the Pokemon around the different biomes of the island, or even just to get to the next area. Fans of that little game were hungry for more content similar to this game, but the years passed and it seemed less and less likely that we would ever get another entry in this beloved series. Of course, this is why fans everywhere went nuts last year whenever a new title was announced to be coming out for the Switch over 20 years after the original game. I recently was able to finish New Pokemon Snap (though I've certainly not completed it yet), and I'd like to spend a little time today talking about the long awaited sequel to a gam...
