Not all Umbrellas keep you safe... (Resident Evil history entries 1-3)

Happy Halloween, everyone! I'm Jonathan, your Self-Proclaimed Dreamer, and today I'd like to share a tale. A tale of body horror and demonic pharmaceudical companies. These games have gone off the rails more than a few times, but in the beginning of the series, it was truly scary, and one of the big reasons that horror games are even around. I am of course referring to the iconic zombie-horror franchise, Resident Evil . This property has become a somewhat prolific multimedia franchise, as there have not only been games, but at least 5 films under its belt, as well as an animated Netflix show and a reboot movie coming sometime in the near future. In truth, I used to have no interest at all in this series, or in horror in general. That all changed when I played Resident Evil 5 with some friends back in the day, and we had so much fun with it that I've become a decent fan. The series is in a sweet spot right now with Resident Evil 7 returning to it's solid horror ro

Never trust a Genie... (My thoughts on Disney Genie+)

Hey friends, I'm Jonathan and as you know, I've always been very vocal about my love of almost all things Disney, especially the parks. It brings me no satisfaction to tell you that today, I'm writing about something that I'm disappointed by, even though it comes alongside some pretty neat things for Walt Disney World's 50th anniversary. A few years ago at the D23 conference, they discussed the plans for this momentous occasion, and alongside new rides and shows as well as the major changes over at EPCOT, there was talk of a new app. Disney Genie was going to be a new planning tool that would help families of all ages and descriptions tailor their day to be as magical as they wanted it to be. They gave almost no details other than the fact that it was being worked on and that they would have more information in the future. Fast forward to just a month or two ago, when they finally lifted the curtain. This new system is unfortunately not great. I hope it will b

Sonic's not by himself this time! (Sonic Heroes in review)

Hey there, friends, after a few weeks off schedule, I'm gonna talk about Sonic for a bit longer. Sonic has always been known for his own strength, not relying on his friends. It makes for a strange idea with Sonic Team's next idea, Sonic Heroes . This game was weird for many reasons, and not just because we had the triumphant return of Big the Cat, but there were four different campaigns that use the same stages with different objectives. Also we have the return of Team Chaotix from way back in the day in Knuckles Chaotix . Anyways, grab two of your friends and we'll head into this post full speed ahead! Sonic Team makes a Team Sonic game!     The big draw of this game, and the reason that it's called Sonic Heroes, is because you control three characters at a time instead of just one. There are four different teams, Team Sonic, Dark, Rose, and Chaotix. Each team has three different types of character, Speed, Fly, and Power. Just for one example, in Team Sonic, Soni

He's finally here and I can't believe it! (Thoughts on the final Smash character, and the end of an era)

When I was in 7th grade, a kid on my bus told me that Nintendo officials were meeting to determine whether or not Sora from the Kingdom Hearts series would be put in Super Smash Bros. Brawl , the next game in Nintendo's iconic mascot fighting game. I wasn't sure if I could believe him, but boy was that flame lit in my heart. Super Smash Bros. Brawl was a big deal for many reasons, chief among them being the third party characters which arrived in the forms of Solid Snake from Metal Gear Solid and Sonic the Hedgehog, from the title of the same name. While Sora didn't show up in the game, the inclusion of the third party characters meant that perhaps there was a chance that some day, we could see the arrival of everyone's favorite clown-shoe-wearing, Keyblade-swinging boy, to fight alongside the greats like Mario and Link. As of October 18th, that dream will finally be a reality. On Tuesday, October 5, we received word of the last Smash Ultimate character and foun

The lowdown on the Nintendo Direct from last week!

Hey there, friends! Last Thursday, we had a pretty spectacular Nintendo Direct, so I'm more than happy to go over some of the most exciting news that we got last week. Not everything really interested me, but a lot of things that were very exciting came up, even with a few new announcements, which I really wasn't super expecting, but I'm really happy that we got them! I'll just jump right in and talk a bit about what was shown. Originally this wasn't going to be a super long post, but then I realized that I have a lot to cover here, so please bear with me as I try to recount everything that was announced the other day! Starting off with a Lull (in my opinion) The direct started off with what I thought may actually be the announcement for the final character in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, but ended up being an expansion for Monster Hunter Rise , called Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak . I'm not a huge Monster Hunter fan, and I don't have Rise, so this ann
