Lego's first massive game! (Lego Batman 2 in review)

Image
Hi there, friends! I hope you know that we're coming up on one of the biggest game releases of this year, Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga , which is coming up on the Tuesday after next, April 5th. While I'm looking forward to this game a lot, and will definitely be playing and writing about it when it comes out, I'm not going to be talking about it this early. Instead, I looked at the scope of this new game, all of the different planets and star systems that you span in this upcoming release, and thought about the first time that Lego tried something like this. Back in the days of old, the original Lego Star Wars , Lego Indiana Jones and Lego Batman games were all level based with very little to do in the hub worlds, it basically acted as a more interactive menu where you could buy extras and characters. Don't get me wrong, Dex's Diner from Lego Star Wars was so much fun to walk around and watch the characters interact, sometimes stumbling across a Jedi ...

Have I mentioned that I love Crossovers? (Project X Zone thoughts)

Image
Hey there friends, I have to begin this post with a bit of a quandary. Would you believe me if I told you that there was a game/series of games that brought together legendary video game characters such as Zero from Megaman X , Chris Redfield from Resident Evil , Phoenix Wright from the Ace Attorney series, and Ulala from Space Channel 5 ? Sure, three of those four characters are in Ultimate Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 , but Ulala? Surely I must be crazy! Even crazier, however, what if I told you that these weren't just your average fighting games, but instead were Strategy RPGs mixed with some fighting game moves? All of these things put together make up the Project X Zone series, based on the mechanics of a Japanese game called Namco X Capcom . That game never came to the west for whatever reason, but these games were both released in the U.S., and they are quite possibly some of the coolest crossovers to ever come from video games. Smash Bros is still above them, but t...

Kirby and the exciting demo! (Kirby and the Forgotten Land thoughts part 2!)

Image
Hey friends, as I have definitely mentioned before, Kirby and the Forgotten Land is scheduled to come out on March 25, and last week, we got a demo for the game along with a new trailer! I know I just talked about this new game in the franchise just a few weeks ago, but I'm so excited for this one, I thought I'd spend this week by giving you all some impressions of what I thought about the gameplay from the three levels that were in the demo. There isn't a ton to go off of this week, but I'll do my best to go into as much detail as necessary to talk about how this game is looking so far! Hop on the Warp Star once again, everyone, and let's continue! Just one of the adorable and horrifying new features of this game: Mouthful Mode. A New Dimension!     We haven't gotten a ton of information about this game so far, but what has been seen before set expectations pretty high. Just the concept of a Kirby game in full 3D is really exciting, as really Kirby is the...

Pokemon Generation 9 is on its way! (Thoughts on Pokemon Scarlet and Violet)

Image
Hey friends, last week I had a very dark and brooding look at a fantastic superhero movie, and now I'm back to being the fairly positive Self-Proclaimed Dreamer that you know and love! A few weeks ago I wrote about Pokemon Legends Arceus , and in that post I said something to the effect of, "I can't wait to see what Game Freak does with this engine next!" Fortunately I didn't have to wait very long, because this past Sunday, February 27, there was a Pokemon Presents where they announced several updates to already released games, as well as a brand new generation of Pokemon! Pokemon Scarlet and Pokemon Violet were not announcements that I thought we would get during that presentation, but I'm certainly happy that they revealed that these games are coming in late 2022 (November if I had guess on a month). I decided to use my post this week to talk about some of the information that we got this week on the upcoming new Pokemon adventures, though not a lot ...
