Enough Dreamlight to fill an entire valley! (Disney Dreamlight Valley in review)

Image
Hey friends, you may recall that I wrote something of a preview for Disney Dreamlight Valley a few months ago, just based on what I could find on the website and in the trailer that had been released. The game has been out now for a few weeks in early access, and I have to say that it's a genuinely fun and interesting time. The game is still far from finished, of course, and they're not trying to hide that, considering some of the characters that are on the front of the box haven't been added yet, but just based on what is here at this point is pretty great! Come with me and I'll do my best to explain what the game is, and why I'm really enjoying it so far. Magic is what it's all about!     Dreamlight Valley interestingly begins in a similar way to Stardew Valley . Your character is tired of life in the big city and decides to move to the country, where they spent some time when they were younger. They remember the adventures and imaginary worlds that the

Disney Games, Parks, and movies? Sign me up please? (D23 News Roundup)

Hey there, friends! I hope you're all having a good week, and boy a lot of news is coming all at once. If you're a big Disney fan, like I am, you probably know that D23 happened two weekends ago, from September 9-11, and they had some pretty interesting things that were announced. There was a video game showcase, which I think is a first for Disney, a very exciting development, of course, a lot of movie news, as well as a decent amount of theme park news, so I'm going to be a little self serving this week and talk about some of my favorite announcements from the event. I hope you all enjoy, and I'll do my best to keep things as concise as possible. Let's begin! The Games!     The entire D23 Expo began with the Disney and Marvel Games Showcase, where they had about 30 minutes of announcements from projects across Disney's IP lineup. Tron Identity looks like it will be a smaller, narrative-driven game from Bithell Games, developers of The Solitaire Conspira

I'm just a broken record at this point! (Nintendo Direct 9.13.2022 thoughts!)

Hey friends! It's that magical time of the year once again... no, not Christmas or summertime, I'm talking about Nintendo Direct time, of course! We didn't have one of these over the summer, though we did have a really nice Nintendo Partners Showcase, which was definitely nice. There's something special about getting these presentations from Nintendo themselves though, and so today, I'm going to talk about the things that I was the most excited for, but we'll talk about as much as I think you care to hear about. Buckle your seatbelts, because there were some weird announcements in this presentation, but I was on board for a lot of them! We finally got a title! Gotta love Nintendo Directs!     The whole stream started off with the reveal of Fire Emblem: Engage , which has been rumored for a while. You play as a "divine dragon" with red and blue hair (that many have noticed the similarities between Joycon controllers) that has been asleep for 1000

Where does the time go? (Two years of the Self-Proclaimed Dreamer!)

Hey friends, this is a strange time for me, because as of now, I have actually been putting out one post of this blog a week for the past two years. It seems unreal that I've been writing this consistently for this long, but here we are. Thank you so much for all of the support that you've all given over the past two years, and though I still don't have an actual job that relates to this area of expertise or anything, I still feel like I've been able to improve my writing skills so much that it's crazy.     I'm going to be honest here, i t's tough to write posts sometimes. You don't always have an idea of what to write about, though luckily sometimes there will be events where news will be revealed on weeks like that. I started out this blog to talk mainly about video games and theme parks, and since then, I've broadened my horizons to also include movies and TV shows, just because theme parks are very slow to be updated, and there is typically

A nice dessert course for Kirby’s 30th! (Kirby's Dream Buffet in review)

Hi friends, I know sometimes I write about confusing and convoluted topics, and that can be hard to read week after week, I know. That's why I'm excited that this week, I'm talking about maybe the simplest game that I've ever discussed here, Kirby's Dream Buffet ! Released just a few weeks ago, this game has charm and Kirby fan service flowing out of it's adorable pink ears, and allows for genuinely fun gameplay in little five minute bursts or so that are seemingly infinitely replayable. In contrast to some games that have come out in recent months (*cough* Mario Strikers: Battle League ), this game is only $15 on the Nintendo Eshop, with ironically more content to unlock and play with than those full priced games. Let me grab my Dream Fork so I can roll you through what exactly this game has in store! Sweet treats!     This game has almost no plot to speak of, which is fine, as this isn't the kind of game that really needs a deep storyline. Kirby finds
