It's almost Game Awards time, remember to be kind! (Thoughts on Game Awards 2022)

Hi friends, the nominees for the Game Awards came out last week, so today, as I always do, I would love to talk just a bit about nominations. The impressive thing about bringing the whole games community together for one night, as Geoff Keighley always talks about, is that honestly it seems like most people have something to be upset about. In talking about these different nominations, I want to talk about right off the bat how very little this means. There are tons of award shows and it's always a completely subjective matter, meaning that even if your favorite game of the year didn't win any awards, that's still your favorite game, and really there is no need to apply any logic to it. Sometimes a game will just completely click with you, and when that happens, it's great, even if you can't explain why that is. Control was my favorite game of 2019, and even though it didn't play that well on PS4, there were so many cool things in that game that it stuck

Just giving some impressions so far! (Mini-impressions on Sonic Frontiers and God of War Ragnarok)

Hey friends, so as I wrote last week, we had a couple really big releases to come out one day apart, Sonic Frontiers and God of War Ragnarok . I have been playing a ton of Ragnarok since the day that it came out (save for this past weekend when I went out of town), but I don't feel like I've played enough of the game to give it a full review yet, though I definitely plan on giving it the review treatment once I'm finished. Sonic Frontiers came in the mail from Gamefly over the weekend, so I've played much less of it than God of War , but it's enough to give very early impressions anyways. I thought it would be a good idea to bundle both of these together, and give just a light taste of these two very different experiences, and specifically to give my opinion as a fan of both series. Let's begin with the one that I know less about, Sonic Frontiers . Onto the New Frontier!     I have to be honest, I've only played a few hours of this game so far, but

There seems to be no calm before the storm, just all storm! (My thoughts on the near future through the lens of new game releases)

There have always been games coming out, basically since the start of the whole medium, there have always been new things to look forward to. In the past few years, however, hasn't it felt like a new "killer app" has always been right around the corner, with many releases actually coming out on the very same day as other major titles? Even though we don't seem to have a definite release schedule after maybe February, there are many games that are coming out remarkably soon, and I want to take a little break after my incredibly long last two posts and just talk about those today. I think it could be fun to look forward to the near future and get excited for all that we're getting ready to play! Just so you know, this won't be a very long one, just because as of today when I'm writing this, God of War Ragnarok is coming out tomorrow and Sonic Frontiers just came out today. My writing time may be cut a bit short, but I'll try my best to be as enter

Man becomes a father, what comes next may shock you! (Resident Evil 8 Story recapped)

Welcome back, my friends and fiends alike... I see you're here for another tale of horrors and woes. As I recall, I was telling the tale of Ethan Winters, a truly remarkable and unconventional hero who had to deal with some remarkably dark and wicked horrors while trying to save his wife. We last left our reunited couple safe and happy, save for some unfortunate unavoidable PTSD after the events which occurred in Dulvey, Louisiana at the Baker House. Surely nothing too terrible is in the cards for Ethan and Mia Winters from now on, right? I wish I could tell you that they went on to live long and happy lives, that they enjoyed long peaceful days, but today's story is unfortunately not like that at all. Please beware of the spoilers ahead, as I'll be doing my best to recount the horrors that await Ethan this time around, and since I do love Resident Evil 8 , I hope you'll go try it out for yourself if you have the means. I need to mention that I haven't played t
