The mind can be a dangerous place! (Psychonauts 2 in review)

Image
If you've played the original game Psychonauts , or any other Double Fine productions that they've put out over the last 20 years or so, you know that they're some of the most creative games that you can find. Psychonauts 2 is a game that many fans probably thought would never happen, especially this long after the fact, but in the year 2020, the game was released to the public, and even though I wanted to play it right away, I didn't end up playing it until the last few months or so, and finally finished it last week. Did I think that it was worth the wait, and that it loved up to the creative premise of the original, or did I think that they should have thought harder about it this time around? I'll explain some of my thoughts about the game today, while trying to not get into spoiler territory. Let's take the psychic door into the mind while I discuss, shall we? Into the mind!     If you're not familiar with Psychonauts , the 2005 3D Platformer foll

Seeking the truth can be tough! (Persona 4 in review)

What does it mean to really seek the truth of any given situation? There are so many subjective and objective truths about situations that it's really hard to tell the difference, and sometimes it can be a lot more trouble than you think. The truth is really worth it, of course, as the characters in Persona 4 found out. I need to get off my chest right away that I really liked this game and I highly recommend it to everyone, even though there were a few moments in this game that were really rough and hard to watch. One moment in particular I especially hated, but once I got through it, I ended up really liking the game as a whole. I've talked about Persona 5 before, and I'll go ahead and say on the record that I still like that one a lot better, but 4 is an extremely solid entry. Let the record show that when I completed the game, it was part of the new rerelease of Persona 4 Golden on PS4.  Now, let's begin this post and join the search for the truth.  Welcome t

Nintendo Direct time yet again! Let's talk about it! (Nintendo Direct recap from February 8, 2023)

Hey friends, do you feel that in the air? It's that time of the year again, Nintendo is going live with over 40 minutes of game (and maybe movie) news on February 8, which is tomorrow as of the time that I'm writing this. I'm always so happy when one of these gets announced, and even if nothing huge catches my eye, I'm just always glad to know more news about what's coming down the line. The last one back in September was a little weird and got a lot of flack for having at least four "fantasy farming RPGs" included in the lineup, but it also revealed Fire Emblem Engage , Pikmin 4 , and an actual title drop for the new Zelda game coming out in May, Tears of the Kingdom . I fully expect there to be at least a teaser for Tears of the Kingdom here, but other than that, I would just be happy to be surprised, as I always love. There have been rumors of a new Mario Baseball game in development for Switch, and as the big fan of Mario Superstar Baseball tha

What does it mean to be a Self-Proclaimed Dreamer?

Hey friends, Jonathan here with a bit of a clarification to make today. I don't want people to think that the title that I've chosen for my blog means that I'm better than anyone. I don't think anyone who has met me would believe that I'd say anything like that, but I just want to make it known exactly what I mean by the "Self-Proclaimed Dreamer" and why I choose to call myself that here on this blog. This isn't going to be a very long post by any means, but I just feel like it's something that is important to qualify every now and then.     Growing up and all through school, I've had a hard time expressing myself and exactly what I've been trying to say. I was always a quiet guy in class and as such, I didn't open my mouth enough to let a lot of people really get to know me, save maybe the last year of high school and on. Even then though, some of the most important things that I really wanted to say just never materialized. I
