How does a witch begin her story? (Bayonetta Origins: Cereza and the Lost Demon in review)

Image
Hey friends! So this has been a strange year or so for me. At the beginning of last year, I had only played and completed Bayonetta 2 , one of the two games in the series that had been released at that time, and now as of this week, I've completed all four games in the series. I guess I should say, I have played the four games with Bayonetta as the main character, as it's hard to believe that today's game is in the same series.  Bayonetta Origins: Cereza and the Lost Demon , plays very differently from any of the other games. If you just look at the ESRB ratings for the other titles, they're all rated M (Mature), and then there's this one, which is T (Teen). There's a shift in art style, gameplay, and even style of narrative. The biggest question when it comes to games, however, is always, is it fun? Let's talk about that today as we journey into the Avalon Forest with young Cereza to learn a long forgotten story of her past. Once Upon a Time...     As

Let's-a-go to the theaters! (Super Mario Bros. Movie in review)

Image
Wahoo! The day has finally come where I can say that I've seen a movie based on the Super Mario Bros. series in a theater, and I'm happy about that no matter what. When the cast was first being announced, there was more than a little criticism being leveled for almost all of the people announced to play different characters. Many even went so far as to say that the movie wasn't going to be very good based on these castings. The Super Mario Bros. Movie is not only out in theaters now, but selling like hot cakes. The movie has topped the box office for two weeks now, and has already made over $700 Million dollars globally as of Monday, April 17 according to the Hollywood Reporter, which is the highest grossing film of the year so far. Of course, just because it's doing well doesn't mean that the movie is good, so I'll talk a bit about this film today without going into too deep details. I especially don't want to give away all of the easter eggs, though

Kirby's Return to Return to Dreamland (Kirby's Return to Dreamland Deluxe in review!)

Image
In 2011, there had been a long period of time where Kirby hadn't had a big mainline game in quite a while. At least traditionally speaking, since Kirby's Epic Yarn came out in 2010 in the US, but that wasn't a traditional Kirby game in any way. The enemies were made of yarn and you couldn't actually die, along with the most different changes of all, Kirby couldn't use copy abilities or suck up enemies, which were two things that Kirby had done since Kirby's Adventure on the Super Nintendo. Kirby's true return to form would come one year later, with a game entirely devoted to "returning" to the source material, Kirby's Return to Dreamland . There's a good reason that this game was referred to in some other regions as "Kirby's Adventure Wii," since it got back to the root of what made Kirby games the way that they were. I'm happy to say that for the 30th anniversary of the Kirby franchise, we got a lot of great stuff.

Back at the beach, time to talk about the Indies! (Indie catch up time!)

Image
When my family goes to the beach, I always find that it's a good time to catch up on some of the indie games that I haven't played yet, even if I've had them on my switch for a year or more already. While I'm not the biggest fan of the beach, there is definitely something about sitting and listening to the water that allows for a relaxing reprieve from normal everyday life. In that spirit, I'm going to write a more chill and laid back post about a few games that I've really been enjoying from the more indie side of things. I should say that I've not beaten any of these games yet, but I'm really looking forward to playing more soon! Let's begin with one of the newest (and most chill) games on the market, Terra Nil . Save the world, then leave.     With many games, the enemy will be some evil force or demon invasion, but in Terra Nil, there's nothing so supernatural, as the whole point of the game is to save a deserted ecosystem from extincti
