A new racing challenger approaches! (Disney Speedstorm in Review)

Image
I don't think I'm making a bold statement when I say that Mario Kart is the front of the pack of Kart Racing games genre. It has been pretty comfortable for a long time in that position, but could that have changed with the most recent competitor in the arena? Probably not, but that doesn't mean that it's not going to be a fun time! Disney has been making some moves in the gaming world recently with new games like Disney Dreamlight Valley , Tron Identity , and a few years ago with Disney Infinity , but today, we're talking about Disney Speedstorm . I'm happy to be activating my unique skill of writing to take you through this new game, highlighting all the good and not-so-good along the way! Racing through the Movies!     Disney Speedstorm is a game that clearly has a lot of love for the Disney movies of the past, while also performing as a well put together drift-heavy kart racer. The character list is packed with all-stars from the start, and is one of the m

I never thought I'd see the day! (Nintendo Direct thoughts 6/21/23)

Hey friends! I know I ended my last post by saying that I was sad that Nintendo hadn't announced anything in terms of a direct, but on June 20, they announced a direct was coming the next day, and that time has since come and gone! I'm here to deliver all the news "directly" to you, though I may not talk about everything. There is a lot of good stuff here that I'm really happy about, so let's get into it, shall we? I can't believe this is coming! Announcement time!     The Direct started off with giving a bit more information about the Pokemon Scarlet and Violet DLCs, Hidden Treasure of Area Zero. It's still a little ambiguous about some details, but I'm assuming we'll have a Pokemon Presents at some point to give more information about the two parts of this DLC, the Teal Mask and the Indigo Disk, which are the two parts to this DLC. We do know that one takes place in an old japanese looking festival, while the second one deals with more

News Roundup for Summer Game Fest 2023!

Image
Hey friends! As you may or may not know, Summer Game Fest just kicked off late last week and has been going a little bit pretty much every day. While this special time of the year may not have the same pizazz of E3, which previously has gone on during this time over the summer, we still get pretty good information from all across the game development community. I'm always excited for new game news, and so today I want to talk a bit about the games that I'm most excited for from this event! I'll try to keep it brief this week, because I could be here all day otherwise, and no one wants me waxing poetic about all this, I'm sure!     The Summer Game Fest Showcase started with the announcement of Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown , which is a 2D Metroidvania in the style of Metroid Dread , and I can honestly say that it is one of two Ubisoft games that interests me at all from this whole time. It looks like it has really nice platforming mechanics that give your character (

So good, the kingdom weeps! (Tears of the Kingdom impressions!)

Hey friends! If you're not aware, a new game came out a few weeks ago that has really taken the world by storm. The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is the name, and honestly I think you would be hard pressed to find a game that people are more excited for than this. Not only is this game the long awaited sequel to the "Open World Action-Adventure" defining Breath of the Wild , the system seller that kicked off the Switch in style back in 2017 (sorry, 1,2, Switch ), but we've been waiting for about 6 years now for another new 3D Zelda game! I don't want to talk too much today about the game's contents, since I've actually not finished the game yet, but I've played enough of this game to discuss it a bit today. There's a lot to this game, and honestly it's pretty overwhelming, so let's just leap into it from our place in the sky! What does it mean to be a Zelda Sequel?     It's curious that The Legend of Zelda has been a serie

He will survive! (Star Wars: Jedi Survivor in Review)

Cal Kestis is a strong character in the Star Wars universe, even if you're not familiar with him yet. Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order came out a few years back and began the saga of a Jedi Padawan in hiding during the beginning years of the Empire before being found out and through a wild series of events, began something of an early rebellion. Cal and his new allies Cere, Greez, and Merrin (a former Jedi Master who has cut herself off from the force, a four armed ship pilot with some rocky morals, and a Night Sister from Dathomir respectively) have to make their way through the galaxy and face off against some nasty odds. I really liked the game when it came out and I have been known to say that Respawn Entertainment is the only EA-owned studio that is still making good content, or at least games that I'm interested in. I'm happy to say that we finally have a sequel to that game in the form of Star Wars:   Jedi Survivor . This is not a perfect game, and there are a lot
