Another musical celebration for the series! (Theatrhythm: Final Bar Line in review)

Image
Honestly speaking, there are very few video game series with more impressive and beautiful music than Final Fantasy . So many love the games, and for good reason, as they're well made, turn-based RPGs (though the recent entries have been less turn-based in nature), but I've never been huge on the old school RPGs, no matter how many times I've tried. However, I do definitely love rhythm games. Most people hear the term and think of Guitar Hero , Rock Band , or their slightly older contemporary, Dance Dance Revolution , but I'm happy to report that the genre is still alive and kicking. The plastic peripherals have mostly gone away, but I think I'm actually more into it now than I was when a plastic guitar adorned most game rooms. The Theatrhythm Final Fantasy series started back on the Nintendo 3DS back in 2012 with a game of the same name, followed by Theatrhythm Final Fantasy: Curtain Call in 2014, also for the 3DS. I picked up Curtain Call when the Nintendo

Not just for Little Women! (Little Women mini-book report)

I have always said that my blog is about video games, movies, TV shows, and theme parks, but today, I'm doing something that I haven't done before. I'm here to talk about a book that I read, and more than that,  I'm pleased to announce that as of today, a major hole in my education has been corrected, as I've finished reading the classic book, Little Women . It has taken me an embarrassing amount of time to finally finish what has rightfully been called a masterpiece for over 150 years at this point, and I now understand why there are so many movies, TV Shows and other forms of media based on it. One thing that I would like to say before we get started here with my short post here though, I really hope that I will be able to inspire more boys and young men to read this book. Fun fact about the book that I read from the foreword of the edition that I read, Teddy Roosevelt apparently loved this story, and he was probably the manliest president that we've had t

Step into the pictures! (Viewfinder demo thoughts)

Have you ever looked at an old photograph and wished that you could step inside and visit where you were viewing? Thanks to Viewfinder , a new game by Sad Owl Games, you can do just that. I've been interested in this game for a long time, so I'm excited to say that it's coming out in just a few days, July 18! I played the demo a few weeks ago and I think now is an excellent time to talk about it. Let's step into a picture of the demo so I can tell you a little bit about how what we may set foot in the memories of some interesting inventors. Now you're thinking with pictures!     Obviously I can't talk much about the story of this game, since I've only played the demo, which mainly serves to show how the game works in terms of the puzzles. These are clearly the star of the show, and for good reason! If you're not already familiar, the main puzzle mechanic is that you can hold up a picture with the left trigger (Or L2) and then when you press the righ

Almost time for more Pikmin adventures! (thoughts on the Pikmin 4 demo)

Image
It's a rare time right now. A new Pikmin game is getting ready to launch in the middle of July for the first time since 2013's Pikmin 3 . Pikmin 4 launches on July 21, and to give us a little taste, Nintendo has released a demo for the long awaited title. What do I think so far as someone who is not a die-hard Pikmin fan, who never beat the first or second games, even though I really enjoyed the second one, and also enjoyed the third, which I did finish? Let's talk about it. A weird retcon or something more?     The demo for Pikmin 4 seems to go through the whole opening sequence of this new game, beginning with Captain Olimar searching for parts of his ship, just like he did in the first Pikmin game. He befriends the Pikmin and a big green dog who all help him to find the parts of his ship, just like he did in the first game in the franchise (other than the dog), but we actually take control of Olimar inside a house, which is a first for the series, though we saw
