Lots of new experiences in the works! (Disney Parks news wrap up!)

Image
Hey friends, a few weeks ago, Disney had a little mini D23 called Destination D23, it doesn't seem like they had all of the bells and whistles of their normal convention which happens every two to three years, but I could be wrong. In any case, they announced a few nuggets of information about the Disney Parks, and so I wanted to go over those a bit this week, since I haven't done anything about Disney for a while. Before I get started, I know that Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser, the Star Wars themed hotel/ roleplay experience is shutting down at the end of the month and I want to give a few thoughts based on what I have seen and learned about it. First of all, I have to applaud how cool this idea is, for some fans of Star Wars , I have to imagine that it's incredible to be fully immersed in the universe set up in the films with all of the rules and alien races attached to it. It sounds like the theming is pretty incredible all around, and that the character performer

Three years? How is that even possible? (3 years of a Self-Proclaimed Dreamer)

Well, this is a crazy time for me. It seems completely impossible, but my blog that began as a way for me to keep up my chops and give me something to do while Covid had us all locked inside is three years old as of this month. People always say that time moves faster the longer you've lived, and that's incredibly true. In one sense, it feels like I've been writing this for no time at all, but in another sense, it seems like I could have been writing this blog for an incredibly long time. In the last few years, I've shared a lot about myself and what I've been doing, what I've been interested in, important issues that plague the industries that matter to me, etc. and to my amazement, I've heard from a lot of my old friends and mentors from throughout the years. One of my big goals in this whole project is to work on getting my ideas and writings out there to show myself and others of what I'm capable of when I put my mind to it, and I just really appreci

Wait, didn't we just get a Direct? (Thoughts on September 14 direct!)

Image
Alright, folks! It's been about two weeks since the last Nintendo Direct that we had, so it seems about right for another one, wouldn't you think? Of course, it was a different thing entirely with the last one, being only about 15 minutes long and focused entirely around Super Mario Bros. Wonder. This time, however, is a 40 minute presentation focused on the games coming out this winter. Will they travel outside that timeframe for one or two as they've been known to do? We'll have to wait and see, but for right now, that's the plan that we've been given. If I'm allowed to give some predictions here from before the direct comes out tomorrow morning, let's come up with some. I think we're likely to see some information at least about the Booster Course Pack for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe , which is the last one in this massive set of DLC. We may see some about Super Mario RPG , since we've not seen anything about it since the announcement trailer, bu

So many games on the horizon! (State of game releases as of the beginning of September!)

Every now and then, I think that games are just going to stop coming out and we'll just have to deal with the games that we already have, but nope, the games are still coming and thank goodness for that! Just last week, we had two big games (well, a game and a DLC) that I'm really looking forward to, and so I thought it would be a good time to write a little bit about all the games that we have coming up just in the next few months or so! Let's just jump into it and see where we end up, shall we? A stacked back half of 2023!     Starting off with last week, the end of August,  Sea of Stars  and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge were released or released new content. I'll start with Sea of Stars , which is a new RPG from Sabotage Studio, based on some of the best games in the genre from the Super Nintendo era. I've had my eye on this game for a long time, even though I'm not a huge RPG fan, they announced that this game will be a prequel to

I "Wonder" what else there could be! (Super Mario Bros. Wonder Direct thoughts!)

Alright, the Super Mario Bros. Wonder Direct was a whole lot in a very short amount of time. In the 15 minute presentation, they went over a lot about the story, the characters, world, power-ups, and a brand new badge system along with just the "wonderful" nature of the game. The game comes out on October 20, so we still have about a month and a half to wait, but let's talk about what we saw here. It's almost time to take a whirlwind tour to the Flower Kingdom! What a Wonderful World!     The direct began by showing just how the game's plot begins. Mario and friends have been invited to the Flower Kingdom by Prince Florian (the caterpillar guy seen on Luigi's back in a lot of the concept art) and things are going pretty well until Bowser shows up, touches a Wonder Flower, and fuses with the Prince's castle. We'll go into what Wonder Flowers are soon, but this is a wild beginning of the game. We've seen Bowser's crazy airship in the first t
