Alan Wake lives! I think? (Alan Wake II in review)

Hey friends, the time has come for another wild game to come onto my radar, one that I've been looking forward to basically since I finished Control in 2019. If you recall, that was my favorite game of that year, and right after I finished it, I was immediately excited for whatever game Remedy put out next. I'm very happy to say that Alan Wake II  is exactly what I was hoping it would be. I was honestly worried after playing Alan Wake Remastered which was put out last year and I honestly didn't love. It was a fine enough game, the story was great, but the gameplay I felt didn't mesh with me as much as Control did, which makes sense, given that the game originally came out in 2010 and they were still trying to figure out how the game should work. There have been some talks about there becoming like a "Remedy-verse" which carries over story between Alan Wake and Control's different storylines, as well as a few others, so I was looking forward to so...

Rocksteady's newest game looks weird, but let's get into it! (Suicide Squad Kills the Justice League first impressions!)

Friends, this is actually a very exciting day for me, as there has not been a time that I've ever been able to talk about something before it has come out in this capacity before. I have been very carefully holding my tongue for the last several weeks, but the NDA has been partially lifted for something that I was able to help out with in some small way. I recently was able to play the Suicide Squad Kills the Justice League closed beta and while I can't use any footage from my playtest, I can at least talk about the experience! I really hope I'll be able to do some justice to this game, because honestly, while it's not perfect, I think Rocksteady has made a really fun game that people will hopefully like. Before we get started, I first of all can't recommend this for any younger players. It is pretty violent (as is the whole premise of the Suicide Squad), and the language is definitely more geared towards older folks. I will also say that yes, this game definitely...

A Sober Speakeasy...

Hey there, friends! Are you looking for a new feeling of community? Do you like dressing up like someone out of the roaring 20's? Are you planning on observing a "Dry January" or do you just enjoy non-alcoholic drinks and would like to know how to make one for yourself? I have just the event for you! I've been working with a group of young adults from Smoke Rise Baptist Church for the last few months on a pop-up event in collaboration with Princeton and we've come up with something pretty unique! We call it a "Sober Speakeasy," where we will capture the essence of a cool exclusive club nestled in the heart of Downtown Tucker, Georgia, but we would love for people to come! We'll have some silent films in the background while you meet and converse with people, play old games, and a tutorial to show how to make non-alcoholic "mocktails." Make sure to keep your eyes peeled though, I've heard rumors of another club in town that's p...

A short review for a short game! (Warioware: Move It! In micro-review)

Image
Hey friends! Today I thought it would be good to talk a little bit about a game that really flew under the radar due to being shoved in the release calendar right in between Super Mario Bros. Wonder and Super Mario RPG , WarioWare: Move it! This was definitely a fun time, and it seems really unfair that people just forgot about this one because of all the bigger games coming out around the same time. This is definitely a shorter game, but they also reduced the price from most games, which is pretty fair if you ask me. Let's just go ahead and get into it! I called this a "Micro-review" because the series is known for the Micro-games, which is like Mini-games (which you may find in Mario Party ), but even smaller, only giving you a few seconds to complete each, so I'll try to move at the same breakneck pace today! Not much of a vacation!     This game begins with Wario winning a vacation to an island paradise, which also allows him to bring along the whole staff of hi...
