Bonjour, mes amis! Time for some Disneyland Paris news!
Hey friends! A few years ago, I was doing some research on Disneyland Paris, and discovered that there are actually two parks. There's the main one, which mimics the magic of Disneyland or the Magic Kingdom, and then a second one, called Walt Disney Studios, which is a sister park to Hollywood Studios in Florida. I'm happy to report that they just announced some new expansions to this park (though someone who just went to Disneyland Paris told me that the construction was extremely visible to some of these projects when they visited), and I'd like to discuss it a bit. It's a pretty big deal to change the theming so drastically that they change the whole name of the park, but that's what they're doing right now. Let's talk a bit today about the newly named "Disney Adventure World," shall we?
Welcome to the theater!
Once you enter this newly renovated park (once everything is finished), you'll enter through World Premiere, a walkway being lined with classic designs of movie theaters, which sounds kind of like a Main Street USA situation, but we'll see if it's a long corridor like that! The website (which can be found here) refers to it as, "A vibrant, contemporary movie studio..." and the theming will be treated as if there's always a Hollywood movie premiere going on. Clearly, even with the name change, we can still expect the movie magic that this park has been known for, despite the lack of visible sound stages like they have now. It sounds like it's more focused on the glitz and glamour of a finished film instead of what the process of making a movie can be like. The "World Premiere Plaza" is currently celebrating Walt Disney Animation Studios and Pixar, and they're working on changing the central hub of the park to be more modern and fitting to the entrance. Of course, this is always exciting to get some different theming, along with the new name, but how about new lands that are getting ready to open?
You snow it's coming!
A few years ago at this park, they opened Worlds of Pixar and the Avengers Campus in this park, and now, they're getting ready to open World of Frozen as a full new area of the park. This area hasn't really been talked much about in terms of the entertainment and attractions that are going to be there, but I would imagine they'll get an Anna and Elsa Meet and Greet station here, maybe Frozen Ever After will be opened here eventually to fit into their recreation of the North Mountain. The theming of it looks really cool though, I like that they actually have done a great job of recreating the Arendelle square from the movie, which of course is the idea behind it in the first place. Honestly, I would be content with just being able to walk around the castle in the vein of Swiss Family Robinson's treehouse, but I would imagine there may be a restaurant in the castle that they're building (somewhat like the area in Tokyo DisneySea that I wrote about recently).
On the edge of this land, they're building something akin to World Showcase Lagoon at EPCOT, but this is called Adventure Bay, where they're having a "unique entertainment stage with 360-degree viewing area." Basically, it seems like they're getting their own version of "Illuminations" or "Luminous" at EPCOT, but they'll be releasing more information about that in the weeks and months ahead.
More Tangled representation is always good in my book!
A new ride is being added, which isn't anything too special, being basically another retheme of the Mad Tea Party, but it is Tangled themed, so I have to talk about it. Raiponce Tangled Spin is, as I said, a spinning ride, so please don't ride if you get motion sickness, because you'll get really dizzy on this one for sure, but the ride vehicle is a boat, and lanterns from the boat scene are above you as you ride, which is a really cute touch, which again, makes me very happy. The confusing thing about how this post on the website is written though is that they transition from there to a new restaurant, "The Regal View Restaurant and Lounge," which will be a new character dining experience for the park, and it'll be along Adventure Bay so you can watch the show. I'm not sure where it is in proximity to the Tangled ride, but apparently pretty close, since they wrote more about it than the ride itself.
Along with these bigger changes, there are a few more minor additions to the park that I'll gloss over here. There's going to be a new show based on Alice in Wonderland where Alice and the Queen of Hearts will have a showdown set to pop and rock music, called "Alice & The Queen of Hearts: Back to Wonderland." I'm thinking this will be something like Festival of the Lion King, since it mentions audience participation, high flying acrobats, and two possible endings, based on how the audience interacts with the show. There's a new "Nighttime activation" coming by the end of 2024 at the Avengers Campus. I'm not sure what an Activation is, or how it's different from a normal nighttime show, but it says that it will have projections, music, and special effects, while featuring some new heroes that haven't been featured in these parks before. I'm thinking it could be like the shows that we get in front of Cinderella's Castle at Magic Kingdom, but we'll have to see. Disney Village (which is like Disney Springs or Downtown Disney) is getting some renovations to their current Disney store and the LEGO store there, among some other refurbishments that the area is receiving. The Davy Crockett Bungalows are also being renovated at the Davy Crocket Ranch, receiving more of a "Junior Woodchuck" theme (think Boy Scouts, but from the most recent Ducktales series).
That's really all the news that I can find about the renovations and changes that are happening at this European park, but I thought even though I've never been there, I need to learn more about the comings and goings there, especially since it's a park that I don't know all that much about, which is always kind of exciting for me. Any Disney Park is worth learning about in my eyes, at least, and even though some changes are fairly slight, each one makes something new to see.
Thanks so much for reading this post, friends! Shout out to my friends who just went to Disneyland Paris in the last few weeks or so for giving a bit of information to peak my curiosity in this news story. "World of Frozen" is coming to several different parks over the next few years I'm pretty sure, considering the popularity is still there for that movie, even though it's definitely not as high as it once was. I hope you all have a great week! Until next time, I'm Jonathan, a Self-Proclaimed Disney Reporter, and I'll see ya real soon!
